(Little Rock) (AP) – Republican Arkansas Sen. John Boozman has been named to a committee that will work on a farm bill.
The committee is to work to reconcile differences between the Senate’s farm bill that passed in June and the farm bill that passed the U.S. House in July.
The Senate version authorizes funding for both farm commodities and for nutrition programs such as what was once known as food stamps. The House bill authorizes funding for commodities but does not include food stamp funding.
The House has not yet appointed its representatives to the committee.
The current extension of the farm bill expires Sept. 30th.
