(West Plains) – Student returning to the classroom for the new school year and area adults are invited to the Howell County Health Department in West Plains for free Tdap vaccinations.
In collaboration with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services the Howell County Health Department has announced another opportunity for residents to receive Tdap vaccinations at no cost. Tdap shots are a combination of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.
On August 13 the clinic will be open from 8AM-6PM in hopes that parents who work till 5PM will have the opportunity to bring in their children.
Chris Gilliam, the Administrator at the Health Department shared that the hope is that children ages 11 and older, was well as adult residents will take advantage of this opportunity. Gilliam would like to remind parents that it is a mandatory requirement for students entering into the 8th grade to have a Tdap immunization prior to the new school year.
Adults who are involved or have close contact with very young children or who haven’t received a Tetanus shot with the past 10 years are strongly urged to participate themselves. Gilliam stated that the need vaccinations doesn’t stop when you become and adult, and these vaccinations just like childhood immunizations are important to lifelong good health.
