(West Plains) – A West Plains resident and a resident of Caulfield were killed Wednesday morning in two separate accidents in Howell County.

TANKER TRUCK OVERTURNS, KILLS WEST PLAINS RESIDENT

30-year-old Edward J. Stowers was killed Wednesday morning after the tanker truck he was driving ran off-road and overturned, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Stowers was pronounced dead at 10 AM at the scene of the accident.

The accident happened around 9:20 AM Wednesday morning on Route CC near Dora, 11 miles west of West Plains.

Stowers was taken to Robertson Drago Funeral Home.

The fatality is the 10th so far this year for Troop G, compared to 20 at this time last year.

CAULFIELD MAN KILLED IN ATV ACCIDENT

A resident of Caulfield was killed Wednesday morning when the ATV he was operating crossed the center line on Highway 142 in Howell County and struck a truck head-on.

34-year-old Leland Tackitt was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:15 AM accident.

The accident happened 5 miles east of Bakersfield on Highway 142. The driver of the truck, 27-year-old Kyle Wright of Gepp, AR, suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

The deaths mark the 10th and 11th fatalities for Troop G this year, compared to 20 at this time last year.
