(Jefferson City) – A student at Missouri State University-West Plains was selected as the grand-prize winner of $2,500 in the Missouri Lottery’s “Tools 4 School: The A+ Giveaway” promotion.
18-year-old Colten Tullos of Koshkonong won the random drawing, held on April 15, from a field of current and former A+ recipients who entered the promotion. Three first-prize winners were also selected to win $1,000 in prize money, while three second-prize winners won $400 to put toward a laptop or other school essentials.
Tullos said that the program has helped him pay for books and tuition.
Also, Shelby Simpson of Thayer, who also goes to Missouri State-West Plains, won one of the three second-place prizes of $400.
The Missouri Lottery, which is contributing 66 percent of the funding for Missouri’s A+ scholarships for this year, conducted the event to recognize and reward the dedication and hard work required to participate in the A+ Scholarship Program.
