(Mountain Home) – The Baxter County Quorum Court on Tuesday voted for emergency funding for the county detention center after a spirited campaign by Sheriff John Montgomery to receive funding.

Ozark Radio News spoke with Montgomery, who told us about the decision Tuesday night:

Despite the joy the decision brought, Sheriff Montgomery says that more work is ahead:

To try to fix the problem, Montgomery proposed a quarter-cent sales tax last year that was struck down by voters. We asked Sheriff Montgomery if he would bring the issue before voters again:

Montgomery says the helicopter and patrol boats have been reinstated, with the beds being reinstalled in the jail this week.
