(Houston) – With spring on the way, its not too early to start looking ahead to the annual river clean-up events that go on in the area during the summer. The Top of the Ozarks Resource and Development group, along with the Piney River Watershed Committee, have announced the summer dates for clean-ups on the Jacks Fork, Upper Current, and Big Piney Rivers.
Ozark Radio News spoke with area forestry and communications specialist with Top of the Ozarks RCD, Peter Maki, who told us about the Big Piney River cleanup, which is scheduled for mid-June:
Maki says that everyone is welcome to the clean-up, but they’re most in need of people with aquatic transportation. Maki also tells us some of the items that people who are planning on coming out to the clean-up should bring:
Many of the items will be recycled, including tires, which he says continues to be a problem on the Piney River:
