(West Plains) – A Brandsville woman has been charged with the abandonment of a corpse after allegedly dumping her stillborn infant on Route Y in Howell County.
A probable cause statement from Howell County Deputy Dylan Webb says that the Howell County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Illinois State Police July 28, 2011, who reported 33-year-old Kitty Teney told them she delivered a baby boy in Howell County while visiting her aunt and disposed of the body over a fence adjacent to her aunt’s home.
Deputies searched the property adjacent to 209 State Route Y and reportedly found the bones of a human infant, which was confirmed to be a near-term fetus by lab technicians.
Teney was interviewed August 5, 2011 and allegedly admitted to giving birth to the baby, which she said was stillborn, on June 22. After finding out the baby was not breathing or moving, she reportedly threw it over the fence, and didn’t tell anyone about the birth until she went to Illinois to visit family.
At report time, Teney was held in the Howell County Jail on $10,000 bond, which she posted. She is expected to appear in court at 9 AM March 12.
