(Mountain View) – Electric rates in the city of Mountain View are going up 11.7 percent, this according to city officials.
The council decided at their most recent meeting to match the 11.7% increase in rates from Show-Me Electric and pass the cost on to residents. Cost increases from 5-12% were reviewed, and an increase of 11.7% was agreed on. An ordinance to change the rates will be drafted and likely approved at a future meeting.
Officials at city hall say the electric department operated at a $58,000 loss in 2012.
