(West Plains) – Officials with Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC) announced that the Cooperative had finished restoring power by 10 PM Friday, February 22, following the ice storm which began early Thursday morning and continued through late that afternoon.

At the height of the outage HOEC officials reported just over 3800 members of the cooperative without power. Trees falling from outside of the cooperative right of ways and high winds were the main cause of power outages. In total, the cooperative replaced 7 damaged poles. The areas where damaged was most prevalent were in Oregon and southern Shannon Counties.

Officials with Howell-Oregon Electric say that safety is a number one priority of the cooperative for all crewmen working to restore power as well as the safety and well-being of members.

As always, if you ever witness a downed power line stay away from it and report it the cooperative immediately.
