(West Plains) – West Plains Mayor Jack Pahlmann has signed a proclamation declaring Saturday, Feb. 23, as National TRiO Day in West Plains to recognize the services provided by the Federal TRiO Student Support Services program at Missouri State University-West Plains.

Through TRiO, qualified students receive tutoring, personal skills training, academic and financial counseling, assistance in transferring to a four-year institution, and financial literacy training in an effort to improve academic success.

On hand for the proclamation’s signing were TRiO student Leah Harris, left, of Licking, one of 140 students served by Missouri State-West Plains’ TRiO program, and TRiO Coordinator Karen Ryburn.
