(Gentryville) – Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after attempting to avoid a deer on Route 95 Wednesday evening.
The accident happened a half-mile north of Gentryville around 7:30 PM, when the northbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Robert Vernon of Mountain Grove swerved to miss a deer in the roadway, traveled off-road multiple times and struck a fence and a tree.
Vernon suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by ambulance. A passenger, 16-year-old Ashley Elliott of Cabool, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by helicopter.
